Life-Saving Instructions From Dr. Jennifer Hair, Editor Of SFX Magazine. Unknown designer, probably 1994

This turns up in my files every once in a while. It was on both the back page and inside front cover (both versions identical) of a promotional comic meant to plug Alton Towers’ new “Nemesis” roller coaster. The inside of the comic is long since lost, though the outer cover identifies it as “Issue #1” so I guess they had bigger designs for that. All I can remember was it was quite generic space marine fare. I was much more amused by the Jennifer Hair ad, and actually I’m surprised I’ve never yet incorporated a reference or parody of it into anything I’ve written given how closely it mimics the kind of conspiracy theorist rants that I love so much. Probably because who the fuck even knows about this advert? A google for “Jennifer Hair SFX” turns up nothing, that’s for sure. This may be the last time this advert is ever documented

For maximum freedom of information, the other full-page advert on the sheet, the inside back cover, is for Games Master magazine. If anyone’s super interested in pop cultural ephemera I’ll scan the GM ad (it lists the 3DO amongst its covered systems) and/or the actual Nemesis front cover

EDIT: Apparently SFX magazine launched in ‘95, which means this comic and advert must also be from that year. Now that I think back, I’m quite sure Nemesis had been open at least a year when I bought the comic
